LEAF is proud to contribute to the sustainable development by setting up Asia's largest husk-based power plant which powers up the LEAF industry and the surplus goes for distribution to houses and industry via Government Grids. The high calorific value of rice husk ensures a steady supply of power, generating green energy in the form of electricity that also earns LEAF carbon credits under CDM mechanism.
Not just rice husk, but also the residual ash left after generation of power is put to use in manufacture of bricks. This leads to zero-wastage at the plant.
"With a firm commitment to Sustainable Development, LEAF innovated with the production of power by setting up 30 MW rice husk fuelled power plant"
It is also dedicated to creating power hubs across Punjab on similar lines.
The progressive approach of the company has been a potent force in initiating and expanding its capacity of New and Renewable Sources of Energy; and increase the total power generation to quite a significant level in coming future. With machines from Thermax Babcock Willcox – an Indo-UK joint venture; Shin Nippon, Japan; Areva, France and Schneider, Germany, LEAF asserts its position as being the procurer of the best technology, the world over.
